Graduate Admissions

The Admission process is very competitive; applicants must have a 4.0 GPA and submit SAT or ACT scores (but not both) and letters of recommendation from teachers or other people who know them well.

Admission Process

After applying through the Online Application, you will receive an email confirmation from Stanford Admissions within 48 hours, letting you know they have received your application and are processing it. Once they have finished processing your application (which can take up to two weeks), an admissions officer will review all materials before deciding whether to accept you into their program(s). All requirements have been met if accepted, and all financial aid packages have been confirmed for matriculation into Stanford University as a student!

Eligibility

To be eligible for admission to the Stanford GSB, you must have:

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. If you earned your undergraduate degree from a non-U.S. institution, please review our international admissions requirements (PDF).
  2. A minimum 3.0 GPA in your last 60 semester units (or 90 quarter units) of undergraduate study with no grade lower than B- in any required coursework within the major field(s) of study; and
  3. Proficiency in English as demonstrated by one of the following tests: TOEFL iBT 80+, PTE Academic 65+, SAT 1500+ (CR+M), ACT 30+.

Application Requirements

To apply to Stanford, you must submit the following materials:

  • Application form (available online)
  • Application fee ($125 for domestic applicants, $125 for international applicants)
  • Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended (if you have taken any classes as a non-degree student, please include those transcripts as well)
  • If applicable, test scores from the GMAT or GRE exam(s). You may take either test once; scores are valid for five years after they’ve been reported to us by ETS. 

Application fee

To apply to Stanford, you must pay a $125 application fee. Applications are accepted year-round and can be submitted via the Common Application or Stanford’s application form.

  • Create an account on the Stanford University Graduate Admissions website.
  • Pay the application fee with a credit card or check (if you’re applying to multiple departments).
  • Submit all required materials and supporting documents by the deadline for each program you want to pursue.
